Vermilion EnergyHuman Resources Advisor (Local) Vermilion has an excellent opportunity for an Human Resources Advisor (Local). This position will report directly to the Managing Director, with a functional reporting line to the HR Manager European operations, in the Germany Business Unit and will be based in Schoenefeld, Germany. The successful incumbent’s mission will be to provide HR services, payroll and policy interpretation for the GBU. This individual will ensure that all HR policies and procedures are reviewed, implemented and maintained., and will supervise and QC the monthly payroll that is processed by the external payroll provider. There is also responsibility for employee relations, training and development, community investment, benefits, performance management process, compensation, immigration and employee wellness. This is a permanent position, with the expectation the individual will work 3-4 days per week. Key Responsibilities Recruitment / Contractor Management Coordinates the recruitment process from initial approval to offer of employment for all Vermilion employees and contractor resources Produces contractual paperwork in respect of employment offers, Award changes, legislative changes etc. Conduct HR induction for all new local, expatriate and contractor starts as well as related HR and payroll administration for all employees Interpreting legislation, awards and employment contracts. Maintains local contracts of employment in line with legislative requirements Assist line managers in the development of job descriptions and ensure appropriate review and update Participate in recruitment, selection, fitness for work Policies Assist in development of HR policies and procedures as well as implementation and maintenance of such policies Conduct research, recommend, and implement approved changes for HR policies and procedures, and related administration as a result of legislation changes Maintain and update the GBU Employee handbook as required HR Advisory / Compliance Provide an employment advisory service to employees and line managers on general employee relations issues and provides support in areas of recruitment, compensation, benefits, training and development, in line with Vermilion’s policies and practices Ensures line management and HR Manager European operations are kept up to date with key changes to legislation to allow them to plan any required changes in advance Participate in investigations, provide advice and recommendations on disciplinary actions. Advise the Managing Director(s) and HR Manager European operations on employee relations issues and/or grievances for final determination of appropriate resolution Ensure occupational health is compliant wth regulatory and Vermilion practices Initiate and coordinate both temporary and permanent resident visa applications Prepare and maintain the Workforce Plan. Update according to business needs with input from Department heads, and seek approval from Calgary head office Undertake or assist with specific HR initiatives, projects, and assignments, as delegated by the Managing Director and/or HR Manager European operations Assist in the development and implementation of Corporate HR programs, policies, and procedures, within given guidelines and timeframes Participate as a key member of the emergency response team Liaise with external HR Consultant on non-routine HR issues to obtain expert advice on specific HR aspects or concerns Payroll and Benefits Coordinate the full payroll process through to management approval. Responsible for the integrity of the data input and compliance with employment contracts and payroll legislation Maintain annual leave, personal leave and long service leave records Training & Development Participate in the annual performance look back review process with line managers Coordinates the training need from the annual performance plan Community Investment Organise “Day of Caring” and coordinate volunteer grant and Community Investment programs in line with global practices Administration and HRIS Ensure all relevant employees data are in WorkDay Prepares HR documentation as required by management Other administrative duties and projects as assigned Responsible for overseeing well servicing operations to ensure they are carried out in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner Responsible for ensuring that the Vermilion HSE management system is actively implemented during well operations along with ensuring that all HSE and operational commitments are met and standards are adhered to Responsible for ensuring appropriate resource and competence levels are available to deliver safe, efficient and effective well servicing activities Responsible for ensuring that HSE and project objectives are clearly communicated to all personnel and contractors. Lead by example Mentor the well servicing team to ensure an appropriate focus is given to HSE leadership Responsible for ensuring that effective emergency response systems are in place for well servicing operations Responsible for development, implementation of and adherence to Vermilion’s Well Integrity Management program in Germany Management of well servicing related audit and review process. Close-out of action items resulting from audit and review processes Management of tender, contract and procurement process for well servicing activities Responsible for ensuring that well servicing related budgets and AFEs accurately reflect intended project scopes of work and enable the asset teams to accurately forecast expenditure Responsible for ensuring accurate time, cost and activity reporting to ensure high quality data gathering and accurate tracking/forecasting of project costs Responsible for ensuring that well servicing staff receive appropriate training and development Responsible for ensuring that close relationships are maintained with relevant regulatory and industry bodies, and other operators, to ensure Vermilion remains involved, where appropriate, with industry initiatives and new technology Ensure that Vermilion maintains competitive well servicing advantage through the effective use of technical innovations Essential Experience & Skills Broad base of experience with a minimum of 8 - 12 years in general HR advisory A key contributor in ensuring all HR and payroll regulations and requirements are met Good understanding of German employment law Fully bilingual in English and German, verbal and written Word/Excel/Power Point Must be able to manage mutiple projects and deadlines, prioritising as the business needs change and to different stakeholders needs Capable of working as part of a team but also able to work on own initiative and taking the lead to resolve day to day issues Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership and critical analysis skills Strong team player with the ability to build relationships and work constructively with others to achieve business goals Education Master’s degree, with a specialization in HR Attributes & Characteristics Open and honest team player Positive and engaging personality Flexible, influential and assertive when required Vermilion Attractions German based office, international company, headquartered in Alberta, Canada Diverse asset base in Europe, Australia, US and Canada 20-year history of market outperformance Ranked among the Top 10 Best Workplaces in Canada, France and The Netherlands Challenging and inspiring environment that embraces teamwork and collaboration Strong community investment and committed to giving back to the communities where our people live and work Vermilion is committed to ensuring we conduct our activities in a manner that will protect the health and safety of our employees, contractors and the public.
