Sr. Inspectors

Parsons is now hiring multiple Sr. inspectors with a desire to work on creating innovative, practical solutions to various aviation projects at the Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport.
In this role you will provide oversight and coordination of inspection tasks in the field and provide guidance and direction to other Jr. level inspectors. As a Sr. inspector, you will be expected to lead the field inspection efforts for this major program and enforce client and contract requirements. We need our inspectors to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team-oriented environments, and have a strong safety and quality focus.
In this role, you will provide field inspection and leadership for the following construction projects:
New air cargo warehouse facilities
Build out of 4-star hotel
Two new end-around taxiways
Revitalization of the domestic terminal and Concourses T South through C as well as the Revitalization of the transportation mall
Additional Parking decks
Fire Station revitalization
Responsibilities Include:
Conducts inspections to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications and may include any of the following:
Demolition of facilities and or roads, streets, bridges etc,
Construction of roads, bridges, and other associated improvements (curb and gutter, street, sidewalk, landscaping)
Installation of electrical equipment related to traffic signals, ramp metering and street lighting
Installation of temporary and permanent signs and delineation
Installation of mechanical equipment
Building and facility construction and associated site development
Taking project photographs on a daily basis and filing them
Lead the field inspection effort by personally observing and enforcing compliance with the Terms and Conditions (plans and specifications) of a Construction Contract.
Participate in verifying progress payments.
Attend Schedule, Progress and Safety Meetings (weekly).
Prepare personally, and supervise and coordinate the preparation by others of Daily Inspection Reports (DIRs). Receive, review and verify the DIRs of subordinate Inspectors.
Work with the Resident Engineer (RE) field staff – office engineer(s) and admin/clerks.
Assist in managing the RE Office - safeguard and maintain the equipment (office & vehicular).
Monitor and ensure the correction of non-conforming work.
Assist in processing change orders, claims, and revisions to the contractual schedule and budget.
Assist in the timely closeout of the construction contract.
REQUIREMENTS:
BS in construction or related field.
10 years’ experience in the inspection of construction work in the field with primary emphasis in concrete, Civil/Structural foundations, Electrical, Mechanical, MEP and Instrumentation and Controls
Must have previous Field inspection experience on an Aviation program, and are familiar with typical procedures used in an Aviation construction.
Knowledge of Safety Plans, QA/QC Plans and Project Procedures Manuals.
Previous experience directing, coordinating, and supervising a staff of two or more inspectors.
Limited knowledge of scheduling, spreadsheet, document, and database software (such as PMWeb, P6, Microsoft Office Suite, and others).
Safety Training (minimum OSHA 10 Hour)
NICET Certificates (strongly preferred)
Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time, as well as lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications and be thoroughly familiar with construction-related processes related to the area of assignment. Knowledge of English grammar and composition, the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written instructions, prepare written messages and simple charts and graphs. Ability to comply with multitude of requirements as applicable to the project based on client and industry standards. Must have thorough understanding of scheduling, and the ability to review progress pay estimates and extra work bills. Must be able to recognize hazardous work conditions and take action if necessary. Ability to use good judgment and work with others is required. Requires ability to climb ladders, inspect work above ground, and work in confined spaces. Requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs (i.e. lifting materials used for testing of concrete, AC, etc.).
Must be able to work as needed which may include evenings and weekend.
