Job Description
Enhance the execution of TEN Plus/Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process by completing the following: Train all Key Stakeholders (i.e., Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, etc...) in Quality tasks/deliverables, customer specific requirements and overall TEN PLUS process.
Ensure that the appropriate manufacturing stake holders are identified during the planning phase to “hand-off” projects and all key quality deliverables (dFMEA, pFMEA, Gaging Methods, Process Flow Charts & Process Control Plans, etc..) in the appropriate phase of the TEN PLUS process.
Enhance the TEN PLUS process (APQP Tasks) & identify eSolution to effectively & efficiently drive product launches: Establish the Business Units “Decision Gate Committee (DGC)“process that clearly defines the rules of order, quorum, gate approval and project metrics that track “flawless launches”. Support the Program Management teams in ensure that the TEN PLUS process refinements are controlled and rollout after revision to appropriate stakeholders. Lead the revised TEN PLUS process training prior to release to all stakeholders. Train cross-functional team members in TEN PLUS/APQP Process, and Customer Specific Requirements for product launches.
Define/establish “deliverables” for each phase gate review process. Ensure “Quality of Deliverables” at each gate meets customer quality and functional performance expectations. Establish an audit process to ensure the quality of deliverables for all projects are met and when needed drive improvements and countermeasures as needed.
Ensure Design Review and Robust Manufacturing Feasibility Reviews are established and conducted at appropriate phase of the projects.
Capture and embed Lessons Learned from customers, manufacturing and engineering processes into the TEN PLUS/APQP process for future product/process launches.
Support program/project management complexity by ensures multiple scope changes are documented via the Change Control process.
Customer Performance Management: Lead all manufacturing sites efforts to ensure customer quality performance expectations and requirements are effectively managed. Support compliance with customer specific requirements that include customer visits, and customer performance metrics/scorecard management. Escalate Customer Performance issues and maintain transparency with the Business Units Leadership team. Report Customer performance results to the business unit’s leadership team periodically.
Support and/or lead global product launch teams as the Quality leader and customers single point contact for Quality.
Quality Functional Competencies/Training: Develop Quality professionals and direct their training, quality functional competency development activities to drive enhanced levels of quality team’s performance in achieving business objectives. Support the development of the Quality Talent Management process for the business.
Required Skills
Education:
Master in Engineering
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of work experience preferably in automotive manufacturing environment.
Must process understanding of APQP requirements and gate Review development process of the automotive industy.
Understanding of manufacturing engineering with respect to one or more of these areas: automated assembly equipment, complex product assemblies, mechanisms, metal and plastic forming, tooling, fixtures and gauges.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface and influence at multiple organizational levels, within Tenneco and with the customer.
Must possess excellent relationship building and networking skills to liaise between multiple cultures and organizations.
Must be well organized and able to function well in a multi-cultural team environment.
Must have excellent technical, organizational, budget and time management skills, as well as problem solving (product and process) and troubleshooting skills.
Must have a basic knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes
Must have knowledge of product line being developed for the project.
Familiarity with office software products including: SAP, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and Program Management software
Must have ability to delegate responsibilities and tasks such that he / she maximize the utilization of the team.
Must be willing to travel.
Bi-lingual in English and German
Functional competencies:
Knowledge of quality management systems and support practices, including the ability to efficiently and effectively assess performance, set strategy aligned with the business and use metrics to drive continuous improvements.
Knowledge of a wide range of problem solving tools and methods, including statistics, combined with the ability to select and apply them to make data based decisions to sustain higher levels of process or product quality.
Knowledge, practice and application of the Product / Process and Quality System standards of the International Certification Bodies, Industry specific Regulatory Authorities and Customers contractually specified Quality Requirements.
Use proven tools, techniques, and methodologies to inspect products, measure process performance, perform product verification and validation testing, and to provide feedback reporting as required.
Product/Process Quality Planning (Advanced Quality Planning; AQP) to strategically define the Critical to Quality elements of a product/process, and the knowledge to effectively analyze, assess and mitigate the risks associated with any potential failures.
