Compliance Engineer
Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: £45k - £50k plus benefits
A national manufacturing company who specialises in manufacturing industrial pumps are now looking for a Compliance Engineer to join their team.
Compliance Engineer - Job Summary:
Provides extensive technical expertise in a broad field of engineering, research, evaluation and development, and supports the development within the field of agency compliance for highly complex and technical products. Application of engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques, whilst insuring that products meet the appropriate compliance requirements, including UL, NSF, CSA, TUV, IAPMO, WRAS, FCC, C-Tick and all EU Directives, and maintaining all technical files and agency related documentation including product testing, site audits.
Designs, develops, tests and verifies complex engineering tasks in electrical, mechanical, optical, software, systems, and/or hardware components. Work will encompass a wide range of sophisticated (cross-discipline) engineering, manufacturing, quality and application problem resolutions. The role involves design, development, manufacturing and/or testing assignments related to products and systems including the engineering of new products or updates to existing products.
Responsible for coordinating agency validation testing, for generation and maintenance of Declaration of Conformity documentation, for maintaining the organization informed of standard changes, and for timely processing of agency fees. Provides guidance and training on agency requirements; responsible for leading agency compliance projects
Compliance Engineer - Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
• Create, develop and design complex and difficult mechanisms, systems and equipment which require a broad knowledge of several fields and an extensive knowledge of own specialty.
• Prepares theoretical studies of involved technical subjects to resolve design issues
• Plan design layouts in order to study the operation, select major components, assure conformance to functional and operating requirements, and determine the optimum location and arrangement from an engineering, manufacturing and maintainability standpoint.
• Research design ideas and proposals, assess available technical data, analyse previous design, engineering plans and projects, utilise specialist knowledge, conducts experimental tests, to propose improvements or modifications to the design ideas and layouts in order to achieve project objectives
• Collaborates with engineering team and customer to assure proper consideration of the customers requirements. LiaIse with and utilise knowledge of team members and specialists to assure proper compromise on the best theoretical design in the interest of basic and practical considerations.
• Develop methods and techniques to be used for standardization of approach to specific design problems. Prepares technical descriptions of basic designs, and engineering estimates for inclusion in bids and proposals or presentations to customers.
• Represents the company as the engineering contact on contracts, projects or products, as well as with regulating agencies such as UL, NSF, CSA, TUV, IAPMO, WRAS, FCC, EU Directives, and all other agencies involved with product line. Delivers project presentations as required. Investigates engineering issues and initiates corrective measures relating to the interpretation of technical data and the functioning of equipment during prototype construction or manufacturing phases and field installation.
• Prepares progress reports relating to assignments as required. Partners with suppliers to discuss physical and performance characteristics of proposed parts, components, and equipment for application to assigned equipment. Prepares specifications and design parameters for equipment to be designed and/or built by subcontractors.
• Develops and implements test procedures while selecting appropriate test instrumentation.
• Lead agency compliance projects, provide engineering support to resolve product problems relating to compliance issues, coordinate product testing to verify agency compliance.
• Prepare, organize and maintain all documentation related with product testing and agency compliance.
Compliance Engineer – Person Requirements:
The ideal candidate must come from the manufacturing industry as a Compliance Engineer. You will also have the following skills, qualifications & experience:
• Requires B.S. degree, preferably in Engineering or in a technical area of science and research with substantial work experience, or a MS degree with some work experience, or a PhD with no work experience.
• Ability to solve the most complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Experience of engineering compliance on UL, NSF, CSA, TUV, IAPMO, WRAS, FCC, or similar
