Siemens Rail Systems are recruiting for a Fleet Engineer to join their expanding Engineering team. The role will be responsible for the development and implementation of Siemens RL maintenance strategy, ensuring optimisation of life cycle costs, rolling stock components and systems within the business objectives. The location for this post is flexible as we have multiple sites across the UK.
What are my responsibilities?
Development of optimum maintenance, overhaul and repair regimes.
Develop, update and implement Vehicle Maintenance Schedules for Siemens maintained fleets as required, ensuring maintenance certification is maintained.
Develop, plan and support Siemens maintenance strategy and engineering projects, ensuring maximum productivity and optimised life cycle costs.
Identification of improvements to maintenance practices using the principals of reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS) and life cycle costs (LCC).
Management and delivery of the Siemens optimisation programs and production of strategy and risk assessments.
Review component scrap and quarantined rates and recommend re-engineering / repair processes as applicable.
Undertake Engineering / technical investigation as required by the Optimisation and LCC Manager.
Support the management of maintenance manual documentation customer approval process, resolve engineering questions raised as required whilst ensuring projects have the latest and usable work instructions.
Monitor industry practices to identify processes, maintenance and material changes that will improve rolling stock performance and achieve business objectives.
Collaboration with internal/ external customer to meet current needs and explore opportunities for mutual benefit.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
Essential:
Proven experience of rolling stock maintenance, planning and IT systems
Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience
Ability to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of traction and rolling stock maintenance techniques, procedures and processes
Experience of reliability centered maintenance techniques and implementation
Good communication skills both written and oral
Good knowledge of IT systems and software
Preferred:
Experience of Rail Vehicle maintenance and repair activities
Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status
Experience with reverse engineering to find alternative suppliers for components, making use of limited information and drawings.
In depth knowledge of Rolling Stock IT systems and railway operating procedures
Mathematics / Statistics studies / experience
System development – e.g. specify and write IT programs
