Quality Assurance Manager
Location: Accrington
Salary: £35k - £45k depending upon experience
A local textiles manufacturing company now requires a Quality Manager to join their team.
Quality Assurance Manager - Job Responsibilities and Tasks:
To ensure that the documentation, testing, quality control and quality assurance processes are adequate to ensure that the products supplied from the Altham site meet customer requirements.
To ensure that processes and checks are in place to enable the Company to implement, monitor, maintain and improve every aspect of its quality performance.
To ensure that all staff engaged with quality control and assurance activities are adequately trained and fully understand their role in ensuring that the products supplied comply with the set specifications.
Quality Assurance Manager - Duties & responsibilities:
1. Managing a small team of 3 lab technicians, 1 Quality Engineer & 1 Quality Technician
2. Apply the departmental resources to monitor and review product quality to ensure that consistent standards are applied, and that there is an effective process for ensuring that all despatched products comply with customer requirements for product quality and documentation. Document and communicate all concerns at relevant meetings, by direct contact and by electronic means to ensure timely feedback and the effectiveness of any implemented corrective actions.
3. Be the main contact for internal and external customer quality issues and accreditation bodies, providing a lead role in third party audits. Actively ensure that quality issues are effectively investigated to ensure customers receive timely responses and that corrective actions are efficient and effective. Ensure that a suitable forum exists to review and expedite resolution of quality failures and issues.
4. Manage the documentation framework within the business to ensure that the documented systems operate in accordance with the business standards used within the business, e.g. ISO9001, ISO14001. Ensure that all required quality audits have been carried out and that effective corrective and preventive actions are taken in a timely and effective manner.
5. To develop a framework and actions to progress the business toward TS16949.
6. Ensure that product quality performance is monitored to identify systematic quality failures. The Quality Assurance Manager will ensure that these systematic quality failures are investigated to determine the root cause and suitable preventive or corrective actions are taken.
7. Monitor and accurately report Company quality performance against KPI targets and to support management in the implementation of corrective action when adverse or unstable conditions present themselves.
8. Ensure that the Company’s employees are correctly trained to perform the quality-related tasks and jobs required of them in an effective manner, and that plans are in place to train and develop team members to enhance their quality knowledge and skills.
9. In consultation with the Group Technical Manager, ensure that the quality standards applied to the business are consistent with the expectations of the company’s chosen market segments and practically achievable with the resources provided.
10. Ensure through appropriate application of resources that specifications for all aspects of every product are maintained, updated and issued in a controlled manner.
11. Actively participate with Production and drive quality (both product and procedure) within the manufacturing departments.
12. Participate in process improvement activities.
13. Contribute, as required, to the formulation of budgets and other financial plans. Manage functional budgets within set authorisation limits and maintain strict control of departmental costs at all time.
14. Actively seek and share knowledge of ‘best practice’ with other departmental leaders to raise the Company’s overall standard of performance. Work collaboratively with all other departments and communicate effectively at all times.
15. Encourage a culture of openness, honesty and collaboration throughout the Company.
Quality Assurance Manager – Person Requirements:
The ideal candidate MUST come from the Manufacturing industry as a Quality Assurance Manager. You will also have the following skills, qualifications and experience:
• Ideally hold an Engineering Qualification such as HNC, HND or BEng
• Experience of ISO 9001 and transferring to ISO 9001 / 2015
• Ideally have experience of transitioning companies from ISO 9001 to TS 16949
• Have a dynamic and pro-active approach to Quality Engineering
• Experience with customer quality related issues
