Job Description:
The Stock Reconciliation team are involved in analysing all transactions that are added to their system be it a trade, internal/external transfer, corporate action or conversion to ensure both their accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. This is achieved through the comparison of their internal records with the corresponding external ones.
Primarily responsible for the regular reconciliation of the £60bn+ of stock assets our Client holds on behalf of their clients, the team (of nine) scrutinise nine different asset classes across approximately 71,000 stock positions in total. Dealing with a range of financial instruments, the successful candidate will gain knowledge of trading, settlement and transfer processes, as well as the systems used to support these functions along with the various underlying custody frameworks used. The department is also responsible for monitoring daily CREST connectivity and messaging and daily transaction reporting to the FCA.
The right person for the role will be highly organised with excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills. Immovable deadlines mean work volumes fluctuate throughout the month and so you should be adept at managing your own workload whilst under pressure. You will be using a variety of computer software packages, with a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel being beneficial.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure reconciliations for each asset classification are completed accurately within FCA-prescribed timeframes
Liaise with Fund Managers and their administrators to obtain the information required to complete reconciliations
Ensure any discrepancies identified are investigated, categorised, succinctly annotated and assigned to the business area responsible for their resolution
Respond to queries relating to the reconciliation process from around the business
Peer review the work of colleagues
Essential Requirements:
A levels at grade C & higher (or equivalent) OR a relevant level of appropriate work experience
Excellent attention to detail and numeracy skills
Able to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
Highly organised and adept at problem solving
Hardworking and dependable
Ability to work individually and within a team
Proactive and positive
Desirable Requirements:
Educated to degree level
CISI IOC / IAQ or equivalent CII
Understanding of FCA CASS regulations
Previous reconciliation (stock or cash) experience
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Proven ability to use initiative
Willingness to learn and desire to develop professionally
