Danish Refugee CouncilBusiness Engagement Internship with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) About us The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is Denmark’s biggest humanitarian organization with operations in around 40 countries dedicated to helping and protecting refugees, internally displaced and other conflict-affected communities. Driven by global economic and political developments, DRC has recently scaled up its pursuit of forging strategic and operational partnerships with businesses, both in Denmark and internationally – in order to be able to better respond to today’s complex humanitarian and development challenges. Innovative partnerships and approaches are required as supplements to more traditional aid work. DRC wishes to be at the forefront of this development in order to meet humanitarian needs and the globally agreed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We offer an Intern the opportunity To gain experience working with an international NGO; To be part of a small, dynamic team To work independently with tasks related to the ambitious goal of establishing shared-value partnerships with businesses The Intern will be supporting her/his colleagues while gaining valuable working experience related to both the humanitarian and private sector and work tasks will to the extent possible be geared to meet the profile and strengths of the Intern. Basic requirements The Intern is expected to meet the following requirements: be enlisted at a university for a relevant education (this is a prerequisite for the internship); have completed minimum two years of higher education; be fluent in both written and spoken English; be proficient in the use of MS Office; and have good interpersonal and communication skills. Examples of work related tasks The Intern will be engaged in a number of tasks related to humanitarian-business partnerships. The specific tasks will be agreed with the Intern to reflect core priorities of DRC as well as the professional interest and capacity of the Intern. Examples of tasks include: contribute to the implementation of a recently adopted business engagement strategy; engage in dialogue with existing or prospective business partners; maintain and develop internal communication platforms to facilitate internal knowledge sharing; contribute to the development of training material related to cross-sector partnerships; scan for and act upon new developments within the business-humanitarian field; assist with writing of documents, reports and project proposals; a range of other tasks and opportunities. The Intern should be pursuing a bachelor or graduate level degree in a relevant field. The Intern is expected to be curious and eager to learn and with the ability to work on numerous tasks simultaneously of both practical and strategic nature. Conditions Availability: August/September. Duration: Approximately 6 months, adjustable to the requirements of the educational institution. Duty station: DRC Headquarters in Copenhagen.
