InterouteFacility and Field Engineer Team Description & Purpose of Role The Regional Engineering team for the Benelux is based in Amsterdam, Brussels and Ghent. It is responsible for the delivery of services relating to colocation, IP, transmission, fibre optics and Facility Management We follow structured processes to provide our customers with fast delivery timescales while guaranteeing a quality level compliant with Interoute’s goals of performance and cost effectiveness. Job Responsibilities The area of responsibilities are as follows: • Carry out the day to day field and facility activities associated with implementation and network build projects, for both internal and external customers • To complete on time, field tasks including CPE installs, card installs, patching, testing using appropriate tools, analysis of test results, and basic problem handling and troubleshooting • To carry out commissioning and installation of telecom racks, ODFs, network equipment and associated power- and data cabling • Carry out general project management and planning for facility and network projects • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget • Update records (including Siebel, Cramer, Site as-built documents, DMS, Falcon, SLD etc), procurement documentation and hand over new build to Operations • Manage all facility infrastructure project related to Planned Works raised by the Network Operations Centre and to ensure personnel abide by the relevant processes and procedures • Work closely with Service Delivery (local RCSC and central) and Sales to understand and schedule the current pipeline work in progress • Support the NOC as needed and using FLM contractors • Manage “Construction Works” notifications • To be responsible for all facility related issues in the Brussels and Ghent region • Assist where needed with work rotas (on-call) and workload assignment • Monitoring and management within the team of Siebel “tasks”, “Projects” and “tickets” • Reports – ensuring management have adequate information and regular updates regarding pipeline projects and current/proposed workload • Providing local supervision of first line maintenance contractor’s performing (annual) maintenances and facility repairs • Management of facility electrical and cooling upgrade projects at PoPs, DC’s and outside plant • Support facility security, environmental systems and access system • Perform facility health and safety checks are required • Facility asset management, access management and logistic support • Work with external vendors to provide pre-sales & bid management quotations for large facility opportunities • Assist as interface with other departments including regular meetings such as the OCCB, Infrastructure Log review etc. • Assist with general improvement by providing feedback on snags as well as challenging the process and systems and sharing ideas on ways to develop efficiency • Plan engineers tasks/works for Belgium region on Field, Power, Cooling and Facility environment changes/new installations Experience Required • Prior experience in Telecommunication Industry with minimum 4 years working experience in Field Engineering/Operations and Facility Engineering • Strong knowledge of facility management of data centers and outside plant • Strong knowledge of facility, power and air conditioning systems • Strong knowledge of electrical systems (PDU, UPS, Generators & Switch Boards) • Knowledge of transmission systems including SDH and DWDM. • Knowledge of IP routers is helpful Person Specification • Computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel and other Microsoft products. • Good interpersonal skills • Team player • Flexible and adaptable • Good English and Flemish, written and oral communication skills • Enthusiastic and highly self-motivated • Appreciation of cultural differences • Willing to travel at short notice • Highly motivated, flexible with a willingness to learn.
