BMR Solutions are currently recruiting for Machinists to work for our client who are an engineering company located in North Bristol.
Job Title: Machinist
Location: Bristol (North)
Hourly Rate: £13.31/hour (O/T x1.5)
Basic Hours: 38/week (07:30 – 16:15 Monday to Thursday // 07:30 – 12:30 Friday)
Job Type: 12 weeks temp to perm
Sector: Milling / Turning / Lathes / Machining / CNC / Engineering / Production / Fabrication / Quality / Nuclear / HAAS / Elgamill.
Job Purpose:
The machinist is responsible for meeting the order book and customer requirements on time and in full.
Key Accountabilities:
·Capable and competent of programming / part-programming, setting and operating semi-automatic (CNC) milling machines for low volume and highly variable production achieving high degree of accuracy and consistency.
·Capable of work with large scale fabrications and setting these on a machine with axis of 6M x 2M x 2M. Also capable of Centre Lathes operation (up to 1200mm swing x 2000mm length.
·Also capable in small scale machining using however large scale machines also achieving high degree of accuracy but also critical aesthetic finishes.
·Highly competent in interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications and able to support others with less experience / competency.
·Able to produce complex details and to resolves complex setting issues.
·Ability to undertake some inspection when required.
·Good work ethic / work Rate with reliable and consistent results.
·Good and proactive approach to problem solving. Ability to undertake some limited supervisory duties if required.
·Ability and willingness to work safely, to protect the safety of others and to proactively engage in all safety issues in the workplace.
Other Essential Skills/Experience and Qualifications:
·Experience operating an Elgamill or HAAS machine is desirable with either Heidenhain or HAAS controls.
·Time Served Apprentice in Machining with at least 5 years post basic training experience working with stainless steel and other exotic alloys (aluminium, duplex etc.) in a quality assurance environment. working to demanding specifications often under client supervision.
·Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar industry – Nuclear (desired / not essential).
·Able to absorb large quantities of information whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
·Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, able to write clearly and precisely.
·Views deadlines as being set and not flexible.
·Good time management skills and flexibility of working hours will be required during busy periods.
