Job Description
Position Summary:
Is part of the R&D advanced engineering team in Tenneco Ride Performance. This team is responsible for the design & development of suspension damping systems from concept to industrialization.
Major duties and responsibilities:
Supports the R&D engineering team in the early phase of product development focusing on the link between design and product performance evaluation both at system level and vehicle level.
Support competitive analysis of Tenneco’s product portfolio via benchmarking
Lead functional performance evaluation of Tenneco systems against others in the market, in areas such as ridecomfort, power consumption, NVH with support from ride engineers, vehicle dynamics engineer and NVH specialist.
Design appropriate test specifications at system level
Design and validate test bench equipment to execute functional evaluation at system level
Work with benchmarking technician to perform evaluation tests, component strip down & analysis.
Analyze system performance via virtual simulation techniques
Make use of 1D system modelling to understand influence of system design and component characteristics on functional performance
Support R&D team in definition of functional validation tests for further development of Tenneco systems
Required Skills
Education and experience:
• Master degree; preferably in mechanical or electro-mechanical area.
• Experience with data acquisition software/hardware
• Experience with designing test fixtures
• Experience in data analysis using Mathworks product suite (MatLab)
Special skills:
• Good analytical skills, good problem solving techniques, results oriented, good listener.
• Process oriented
• Fluent English (reading / writing) is key; knowledge of German language is an
advantage.
• Good communication skills and able to operate independently within a Team structure
• High level of experience with software packages such as LMS Imagine.Lab is an advantage
