Purpose of Position
The SCCM Engineer has a primary task is to provide enterprise-level desktop engineering and design through the design, engineering, configuration, administration, maintenance / support of Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM). Currently, the SCCM environment supports roughly 400 devices, however one of the focuses for this role will be to deploy managed desktops across the globe. The SCCM engineer will play a lead role in application packaging and deployment and be responsible for the design of the patch management across the whole estate. Handling multiple assignments concurrently, leveraging experience and skill in handling complex environments, and coordinating tasks among a small team.
Your Responsibilities
• Evaluates the current SCCM environment as well as our design for additional infrastructure, in terms of best practices and suitability for meeting present and future SCCM functionality requirements.
• Determine and implement best practices for the engineering, configuration, administration, and support of SCCM
• Design and implement business applications/packages into the SCCM application framework
• Design and implement a SCCM Windows 10 desktop OS deployment and automated build processes, including performance tuning
• Provide extensive troubleshooting in the installation and configuration of SCCM; diagnose SCCM desktop deployment issues (defects, errors, inconsistencies in system function, outputs, etc.) and perform root cause analysis
• Remediate issues through controlled and organized incident management processes
• Design and implement a robust patch management regime utilising SCCM
• Produce basic project plans and root cause analysis documents; report progress to management
• Develop partnerships and collaborate with other key IT and business teams
• Provide internal team support, guidance, and mentorship with the engineering and support of SCCM
• Develop future state strategies, roadmaps, and initiatives that are aligned with ED&F’s goals and vision; create an environment that is supportable, secure, and scalable
• Maintains and implements Group Policy and Active Directory Services.
• Serves as technical escalation point for Client Services.
• Supports standardized software installation, including training and troubleshooting.
• Serves as a liaison between information technology services, end users and vendors.
• Maintains procedures and policies to ensure the security and integrity of systems/networks.
• Records and evaluates metrics.
• Report on computer health checks (hardware, free disk space, memory, CPU, Antivirus definitions and malware detection).
• Creates collections and advertisements for mass software distribution.
• Recommends new procedures for troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Continually develop and maintain technical skills to ensure high quality levels of technical support for end users.
Knowledge & Skills
• Extensive knowledge of computer/network systems infrastructure requirements and standards
• Experience with Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems
• Extensive experience of application packaging and deployment
• Java, Adobe, VMware (vCenter, vSphere, application virtualization, desktop virtualization, VMware View)
• Familiarity and understanding of Active Directory, Windows GPO, WINS, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP and commands
• Scripting knowledge (VBScript or other language)
• Familiarity with packaging (App-V, Install Shield AdminStudio, Wise, ThinApp)
• Superior customer facing and technical skills
• Experience working directly with vendors

Your Experience
• Degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum 7 years of Full time work experience in a similar role
Certificates / Licenses
• Bachelor’s degree, technical degree, or equivalent experience
• MCITP and MCSA. CCNA and VCP are a plus
• Additional certifications in OS.
