Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Technical Services Site Supervisor is Responsible for the safe and effective delivery of the Technical Services work scope which includes; installation of switchgear into one or multiple container manufacturers work sites, temporary and semi-permanent, work sites construction, installation, test and commissioning activities’. (referred to as ‘Works’ thereafter).Deliver Switchgear Service; including SF6 gas handling, inspection, fault finding, repairs.
What are my responsibilities?
Lead and manage the Technical Services Engineers, sub-contractors and other third parties as appropriate to deliver the business requirements.
Establish a highly motivated, high performing, success oriented site team.
Develop the capabilities of the individuals, and respectively, of the Technical Services department to deliver greater value-added activities.
Assist the Technical Services Manager to manage and forecast resource requirements to smooth peaks and troughs in demand.
Assist and provide cost build-ups (labour, plant and materials) for works to be delivered by the Technical Services department.
Manage the site activities to meet or better the initial budgets, while providing accurate and up to date reports on progress and budget to the Technical Services Manager.
Maintain full reports and records of all works.
Represent the company at meetings as required with the clients, suppliers and other relevant third parties.
Proactively develop and maintain a network of good industry contacts. Undertake planning of the works, including documenting
Carry out Risk Assessments, including documenting
Provide technical leadership and direction on site
Ensure safe working practices and environment
Deliver small works projects, particularly those associated with modification or refurbishment of existing equipment.
Provide support for product sales and small works, including; ordering, costings, quotation and delivery.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
Previous experience of working on rail infrastructure projects involving Civil and Electrification works
Working knowledge of CDM regulations applicable to site work
Good IT skills (specifically MS Office)
Strong management skills & ability in terms of written & verbal communication; presentation skills; problem identification, categorisation and solving; people skills; and customer management.
A high degree of self-direction and leadership
Strong electrical engineering knowledge, ideally within the UK rail traction power.
The Technical Services department will be involved with switchgear (25KV, 33KV, 11KV, 650V DC), rectifiers, modular substations, SCADA, protection relays and overhead line equipment.
Hold either IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS Certification.
Hold relevant Trackside Competency PTS
Hold Level C & D Competency
switchgear training certification
SF6 gas handling
