The Opportunity Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual as an Application Engineer – Protection providing technical and commissioning support throughout Eurasia. This engineering position is to be located in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is a global manufacturer that provides products and services for the protection, control, automation, integration, communications and metering of electric power systems for industrial and utility markets (HV/MV/LV) and we have an immediate need for an Application Engineer – Protection. Application Engineer – Protection Responsibilities: Maintain and improve knowledge of power system protection, protective relays and their applications, settings, and testing, and all related SEL products. Help customers apply SEL products through visits, demonstrations, training courses and telephone contact. Contribute to product specifications, application and testing software, and literature. Participate in SEL marketing and sales activities and industry technical meetings and conferences. Teach in training schools for customers and SEL personnel. Maintain customer database for customer application and quality information. Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve marketing, sales, and engineering quality procedures. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: B.S. in Electrical Engineering, equivalent degree, or equivalent work experience 3 years’ experience in power systems, industry practices, and protection applications Proven technical training, speaking, writing, and customer service skills Ability to direct daily work activities with general supervision Ability to travel up to 50% locally and internationally Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills Fluent in English and Russian Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of industrial controls and PLCs, 3 phase power systems and relay protection including distance, differential, overcurrent, transformer, and others Knowledge of SEL products Fluent in Kazak language Knowledge of protocols and communications with RTUs, PLCs, or IEDs Experience implementing human machine interfaces To Apply for This Position: We ask all candidates to apply through our website at www.selinc.com/careers.
