SunOptaThe Business Unit Manager is the linking pin between our Senior Management and the commercial team. He/she is responsible for the trading activities and commercial performance of his/her team (4 direct reports). He/she heads and facilitates his/her commercial team and coordinates activities and positions with our USA branch office and our regional sales offices. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Manages his/her trading desks and personnel (traders & commercial assistants) Is responsible for the commercial results of his/her trade desks Oversees the sourcing and purchase of the products (quantities, delivery according to specs, margins, contract formulation and execution, cost price calculations etc.) Oversees the external and intercompany sales of the commodities (offer & contract formulation, cost price calculations, etc.) Is in continuous contact with the Amsterdam based traders, our foreign sales offices and our USA branch office concerning the products of his/her trade desks Plays a key role in sourcing activities for our US based affiliates Is responsible for the commercial and inventory positions of the commodities within his/her portfolio Insures a smooth execution of logistics of the products in cooperation with peers (in time delivery, logistic and costs optimization, customs and costs optimization, storage and costs optimization etc.) Contributes to the further structuring of his/her department (including making an optimal use of ICT possibilities, procedure writing and personnel assessment and improvement) Is responsible for smooth cooperation between his/her team members and those of supporting disciplines (i.e. logistics, finance and quality control) Formulates the sourcing, costs and sales budgets for his/her trade desks Defines the marketing activities for his/her product groups Oversees the issue handling towards his/her customers and ensures optimal customer satisfaction. Keeps track of the international market developments and actively seeks new trade opportunities and product developments Assists in assessing currency risks and positions Keeps track of the results and suggests appropriate corrective action plans to his/her superiors in case required. Minimum Bachelor level (ideally International Trade and/or Agricultural education) Proven leadership/management and motivational skills Minimum 10 years of experience in a comparable function Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and common ERP systems Proficient in English, Dutch and German, knowledge of other languages is a pre Excellent interpersonal skills Stress resistance and flexibility, prioritization skills and decisiveness Excellent analytical and problem solving skills Good financial and business awareness, using quantitative reasoning and common sense Strong written and verbal skills, ability to concisely communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive teams Up to date relevant legal knowledge (trade and liability related) Strong customer service orientation Basic knowledge of and interest in organic agricultural practices.
