The Sourcing Manager will be responsible for managing the sourcing/procurement needs of GP Retail & Professional Business units focused on Innovation and Product Development projects that are New to GP and new to the World. Projects and products are not limited to existing GP Categories, but also to new Categories for GP.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Responsibilities:
Focus to be on finding sources of supply in the global market place, finding innovation applications, developing suppliers for innovation, develop design, experimentation, joint development, trial and supply agreements.
Be able to address Operations aspects (e.g., assess and help qualify the operations capability and quality of potential outsourced suppliers)
Must work closely with the relevant business units and functional teams such as Product Development, Innovations leads and Legal to identify, prioritize and support ongoing sourcing and procurement needs.
Support the professional sourcing requirements of the Business Innovation needs in the areas of: global source identification, innovation trends and sources, developing category sourcing plans including value creation strategies, strategic sourcing, global supply market trends, market research, market intelligence, category strategy development, supplier identification, bid development and evaluation, contract negotiations and maintenance, internal and external contract compliance, supplier development, supplier quality and relationship management, as well as performance tracking and reporting of value creation (cost savings, incremental margin, cost avoidance, etc.) and other key category and supplier performance metrics.
Understand the requirements of IP protection and Antitrust relationships and apply appropriate controls. Be able to apply innovation ideas and product concepts across Retail and Professional Categories.
Ability to analyze data, using a total cost of ownership approach, and understand trial, and scale up costs to arrive at sourcing conclusions, identify alternatives, apply economic thinking, assess associated risks, develop long term supply plans and conduct scenario analysis.
Must be able to synthesize and structure results for oral and written presentations.
What You Will Need:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
At least 2 years’ relevant experience in one or all of the following areas:
Project management
Creative and experimentation focused product development, operations, business development, or strategic sourcing.
Experience with MS Word, Excel and/or Access, and PowerPoint.
Team facilitation and leadership experience.
Willing and able to travel as required
What Will Put You Ahead?
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in chemical and ridged plastic packaging sourcing
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Product Development, or related technical field of study.
Negotiations, risk assessments, joint development agreements, and contract management experience.
Professional certifications or advanced degrees.
Experience using Ariba or eSourcing tools (e.g., eRFx, eAuction), packaging engineering, manufacturing operations, manufacturing cost systems, managing regulated products (EPA and FDA), SAP.
