Role Overview
Amec Foster Wheeler is looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Oil and Gas project delivery operation based across our Aberdeen office locations for a duration of 12 months.
Project
Your skills and expertise will be utilised across a range of domestic and international projects, starting in the bid phase, continuing through to award, start up and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that all engineering is carried out to the highest standard and meets the clients requirements
Effectively manage the multi disciplined engineering team on specific project(s)
Ensure that technical compliance with all design requirements is met
Ensure project deliverables are achieved on time and within approved budget
Ensure delivery of engineering design integrity/technical integrity
Manage all engineering personnel such that personal development aspirations are achieved.
Drive delivery of technical assurance plans and associated activities such as audits, reviews, etc
Liaise with the clients engineering team
Ensure that personnel and engineering tools are available when required
Promote the training of the engineering workforce
Report engineering status to individual project managers, to business and to client as required
Administer and implement, and where applicable, Client / Project company policies and procedures
Remain abreast of legislative requirements
Approve discipline man-hour and cost estimates
Prepare multi discipline engineering estimates and control expenditure.
Review / approve / reject engineering queries / scope change, e.g. EQ’s, TQ’s, etc.
Maintain and develop current awareness of engineering technologies, codes and standards.
Skills / Qualifications
Role Requirements
Essential
Bachelors Degree or equivalent in appropriate engineering subject
Chartered Engineer and member of appropriate engineering institution
Professional engineer with substantial experience and expertise in upstream Oil and Gas sector offshore (although large onshore project experience may also be suitable)
Robust knowledge of engineering design integrity / technical assurance activities
Knowledge of principal multi-discipline codes of practice and standards
Sound knowledge of statutory documentation relating to engineering
Solid grasp of multi-discipline engineering practices and techniques
Experienced in planning, progress monitoring, forecasting and reporting of multi-discipline projects
Experienced in commercial, contractual and administrative aspects of multi-discipline projects and engineering activities
Experienced in leadership, control and supervision of a multi-discipline engineering team
Solid grasp of quality control / safety / environmental strategies and objectives
Desirable
Capable of representing business unit internally and externally at management level
Successfully motivates, inspires and develops personnel to deliver project engineering
Upholds standards and encourages constructive change
Capable of promoting innovation, improvements and team working
Skilled communicator in both written / spoken medium
Generates respect from subordinates by right of technical expertise, track record and interpersonal skills
Competent understanding and management of personnel issues
Capable of harnessing the skills of subordinates in problem solving and objective selling in a co-operative team culture
