Job location: Vilvoorde (Belgium)
The Engineering & Operations Leader Cargill is responsible for leading the Engineering and site operations of the European R&D Centre. This position will improve the capabilities and services of the support team and continuously improve processes for a safe operation for people and users of our products. The function will also interact with various authorities with the purpose of keeping and developing a good environment for operation of the center.
Principal Accountabilities
Engineering/technology domain application and support
Leverage with global/regional networks to enable sustainability and promotion of strategic functional/operational programs and policies (QA inspections, capital effectiveness, reliability, Systems & Controls, Process (development) groups, process safety management).
Prepare scope, budgets, design flows, commissions, process documentation for base and non-base capital projects and consequently lead strategic technical- and engineering teams.
Align with safety lead and act as Engineering representative to ensure all documentation is up to date in order to obtain the required permits while being compliant with specific safety guidelines for R&D labs and pilot plants.
Responsible for execution of asset health strategy i.e. asset criticality, maintenance strategies, health reporting and for enforcing operations/technology risk management compliance.
Best practices governance/ delivery
Transfer emerging technological developments into necessary engineering applications that can be utilised in a R&D environment.
Build and maintain a network with central engineering as well as engineers from other research locations globally to exchange good practices and benchmarking.
Engineering the equipment in such a way that employees can operate them safely, working with clients to find practical, win-win solutions, leading a dialogue of continuous improvement.
Gap assessment/ solution identification/measurement
Manage assets and proactively identify appropriate technology solutions considering overall safety standards, food safety, quality, capacity constraints.
Lead the Engineering & site operations, including labs and pilot plant assets, facility management, food safety and drive a culture of strong cooperation of the teams.
People, resource, budget management
Provide coaching and development tools to direct reports and be accountable for performance management, talent development and overall team engagement.
Overall responsibility for budgeting management planning process.
Supervise the facility management organisation and the IT team to guarantee effective IT support.
MSc or Master in Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 10 years’ engineering experience
Proven experience in leading big complex engineering projects as well as in asset health strategy set up and execution, preferably in a R&D environment
Capability to build winning teams and lead cross-functional and multi-cultural groups
Skills: Analytics, project & portfolio management, technology development, interpersonal relationship building and influencing others
Strong communication skills and ability to assess strengths and weaknesses of competition
Fluency in English and Dutch language
