JOB DESCRIPTION:
Role:
The Counsel will provide strategic legal support to business divisions, assess legal risks and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Duties will include analysis and provision of legal advice focused on business-oriented solutions on a wide range of matters, including general commercial, manufacturing, research & developments, investment, litigation and employment work. Role will assist in developing Legal services support systems for the businesses and in educating business teams on legal-related issues.
TEMPORARY CONTRACT (up to 1 year)
Core Job Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains effective work relationships with key local and regulatory authorities in Russia
Identifies legal issues relating to business transactions or operations; proposes pragmatic solutions
Expected to acquire promptly after joining a solid knowledge of Abbott businesses and knowledge of the broader business impact
Advises Legal management of legal and reputational risks that would have an impact on our Russia and/or global operations
Keeps abreast of changes in laws that affect client areas; communicates such changes to colleagues; provide appropriate update training to clients
Represents Abbott externally to customers, suppliers, competitors or government agencies
Selects and directs the work of external counsel, defines project objectives, manages costs and manages project in line with business expectations
Position Accountability/Scope:
Advises Area Counsel and appropriate legal departments of significant project developments /matters in a timely manner
Trains, develops and motivates the local legal team to ensure professionalism, competencies and performance
Advises Affiliate General Managers, Directors and Managers
Operates within appropriate budget(s). Develops budgets for assigned legal matters where necessary
Education:
At least a law degree in Russia. An LLM or a JD degree is preferable
Background Experience/Training Required:
5 years of post-qualification experience

Understanding and experience in following areas desirable:
Both law firm and in-house legal experience

Russia anti-trust law
Distribution markets support
General corporate law
Trade compliance/ anti-bribery legislation
Dispute resolution
General understanding/experience in Intellectual Property (patents, trademarks)
