We are seeking a Supervisor to join our Accounting Services team at our corporate headquarters in Atlanta, GA
Accounting Services provides services to GP business segments for transaction-based financial activities, business financial reporting, financial systems master data maintenance, governance oversight and project support.
The Supervisor position will be responsible for leading and coaching the billing team for our Containerboard business. The billing team is responsible for Domestic and Export invoicing, preparing export documentation, processing credit/debit memos and resolving issues related to billing. This role supports all Containerboard businesses and is responsible for month-end closing tasks. The ideal candidate must able to interact with all levels of management, manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Additionally, this role has four direct reports.
Experience within the manufacturing sector and supervising others are preferred. Key qualities for success will include an inherent high level of integrity, a proven record of process improvement implementation and the ability to effectively communicate to internal customers within the framework of our operating culture.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Responsibilities:
Oversight of month-end close process
Investigate invoicing/billing issues and determine resolution to resolve discrepancies
Approve credit and debit memos
Internal reporting related to Export Sailings
Internal reporting and resolution around purchasing from third-party vendors
Coaching and developing the billing team
Participate in special financial projects and process improvement initiatives
Participate in physical counts of inventory stored at third party warehouses
What you will need:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or Business
Basic Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in an accounting or financial role
Previous supervisory experience (direct or indirect)
Solid understanding of a General Ledger, intercompany transactions and month end closing and overall accounting function
Clear understanding of the design and purpose of internal controls
Clear understanding of integrated financial systems, complex accounting systems, data-base structure
Clear understanding, aptitude and desire for learning new systems and improving processes through automation
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (i.e. - spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, data manipulation/analysis and formulas creation etc.) PowerPoint (presentation creation and editing) and MS Word (document creation, formatting and editing etc.)

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Experience providing timely information and service to internal business customers and auditors a plus
GPA of 3.0 or above in Accounting coursework
Experience in Public Accounting, Large Company Corporate Accounting, or Manufacturing Environment
