Business Development Manager (Nordic/UK/Benelux) Specialty Glazing & MARGARD™ coated Sheets reports into the Commercial Manager Specialty Glazing EMEA. This is a field focus commercial leadership role requiring a mix of commercial strengths and technical knowledge in the field in order to demonstrate credibility and expertise both at direct customers and our distribution network.
Job Purpose & Responsibilities
• Accountable & Responsible for the MARGARD™ Coated Sheets and Optical Quality sheets sales revenue/profitability in the Nordic/UK/Benelux.
• Work closely (and independently as required) with our distribution partners in the regions to specify & acquire new business
• Develop a leadership position at the target customer base with a view to protect and grow our share with current and new portfolio products
• Understand and be able to clearly articulate emerging product and technical and quality needs and expectations from the customer base
• Work closely with other functions (Inside sales, Quality Assurance, Technical Development Engineer, Product Manager etc) in order to deliver premium supply and quality towards our customer base
• Work closely with Technology & Innovation and Product Management colleagues in order to be first point of contact around new initiatives or project ideas for consultation with the customer base
• Penetrate and build relationships at the targeted customer’s executive level to fully understand needs that can be converted into relevant Functional Forms solutions
• Be first point of contact for Quality or complaint follow up in order to derive optimal outcome and opportunity from the situation
• Translate key technologies and validate new technologies at targeted customers through in depth knowledge of OEMs strategy, specification and decision making processes
• Be recognized by customers as expert in knowledge and relevant technical areas
• Be able to negotiate and close claim settlements as they may arise to the satisfaction of the customer
• Be able to negotiate and implement price as the market dictates
• Be able to forecast expected sales volumes within SAP as required
• Be able to use SAP to generate basic level data on sales/orders/shipments etc
• Be able to articulate a growth strategy for the regions involved
• Be able to articulate competitive landscape within the region and suggest responses
• Be able to derive a yearly plan for the region in consultation with the Commercial Leader
Requirements
• Approximately 7+ years of relevant commercial & technical experience
• Technical background, Polymer, Processing and Characterization Technologies
• A hands-on practical approach to problem solving at customer level
• A “Hunter” type mentality to go after and win new business
• Be a self-starter and highly motivated to win new business
• Excellent written & verbal communication in English
• Location can be flexible, home office depending on location
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Team player who possesses a strong desire and ability to work in a fast-paced, goal oriented organization
• Ability to manage complex business situations
• Have a stable performance under pressure, time management and prioritization
• Field role requiring approx 40-50% travel mostly within the region
