Specialty Compounding Technology
Our mission is to lead in product technology and capabilities as well as service to provide solutions to customers who need special effects or functionalities which can be brought to any polymeric resin via compounding technologies such as flame retardancy (FR), thermal conductivity, inherent lubricity, electromagnetic and radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI) attenuation, etc. for use in various fields of application which include Automotive, Consumer Electronics and Electrical & Lighting.
Job Purpose & Responsibilities
As intern within the Specialty Compounding Technology team you will work on new thermally conductive compounds for LED lighting and electronic applications. You will perform literature search, build your designs of experiments, and perform some compounding and molding activities.
You will characterize the samples by means of general analytical techniques such as FTIR or DSC, and also by conventional methods for plastic testing, tensile, impact, heat resistance tests, etc. Particular attention will be brought the thermal management performance of the compounds.
During your internship you will be supported by experts in the lab and you will have the opportunity to interact with many scientists from other teams with whom, you will share, discuss your work and collaborate. Finally, you will also have the chance to communicate your work and connect with experts from marketing and sales teams who are looking forward to your results and you will document your work in technical reports.
The duration of this learning internship is 1 year, starting summer 2017.
Requirements
· 1st year Master student in Chemistry, Physical-Chemistry, Polymer science or equivalent.
· Good English communication skills, written and verbal.
· Solid experience of laboratory environments and able to run experiments independently with minimum supervision.
· Can-do, solving problems and offering solutions attitude.
· Creative self-starter with the ability to identify innovative opportunities.
· Team player being able to collaborate and work with cross-functional teams.
