Job Description
Sitec are currently looking to recruit a Senior Quality Manager - Projects for a private nuclear MoD establishment in Reading. This is a permanent position paying a salary of £40,000 - £52,000 per annum including benefits.
Reporting to the Senior Quality Manager - Projects Team Leader, the role holder is the Senior Quality Manager for Projects or Capital working as a partner to the Project Managers and is responsible for delivering the defined Quality vision and strategy for the Project or Capital areas in line with the overall Quality plan
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Delivering the defined Quality vision and strategy for the Project or Capital areas in line with the overall Quality plan
* Alignment of Quality activities within project areas with the overall Quality strategy and policy, ensuring appropriate governance is in place in the projects to comply with customer, regulatory and business requirements
* Through strategic partnering with the Programme/Project Leads, ensure the internal voice of the customer and business requirements are communicated and fully understood by all Quality resource working to deliver the programme requirements, promoting collaborative problem solving where appropriate
* Promote and support reliable root cause analysis and deployment of lessons learnt within Project QA and project management
* Role model, coach and develop a proactive quality culture, sharing best practice principles, highlighting and rewarding examples to support understanding
* Support investigations for Programme-significant events, and co-ordinate lessons learnt from all investigation activity through the Principal Quality Manager - Programme
* Compliance to regulatory, customer and business requirements
* Responsible for establishing what quality services are required to meet project needs, making informed resourcing decisions based on programme requirements and integrating that demand into the programme and quality function's resource plan
* Responsible for ensuring that the Quality representation at reviews has the appropriate authority and confidence to challenge poor outputs and escalate where necessary if local resolution cannot be achieved
* Responsible for managing the short-term tasking and ensuring unplanned work is accommodated, where necessary, utilising appropriate resource
* Assure compliance with the clients processes and procedures across project delivery throughout the project life cycle
* Assure that customer quality deliverables are robustly controlled and fully certified prior to delivery
* Apply effective root cause analysis, problem solving and corrective action disciplines in projects in accordance with company processes
* Contribute to Quality improvement as a member of the Quality function by deploying Quality Strategy across the business
* Monitor and report on project Quality performance by reporting metrics, assessment and auditing regimes in line with business needs
* Working with the Principal Quality Manager - Programme, to ensure governance, monitoring and reporting of quality performance across all projects is timely, meaningful and supports analysis to assure delivery of project milestones
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Ability to provide strategic and tactical insight depending on the needs of the business
* Knowledge of the assigned project and/or Capital business sector, its objectives and requirements. Tools to deliver superior performance in a manner that achieves commitment and buy-in
* Risk and opportunity management
* Good negotiating, stakeholder management, presentation and communication skills
* Good knowledge of safety and performance
* Subject matter knowledge in quality management, data analysis, problem solving and performance improvement
* Capable in the use of problem solving and improvement tools and techniques (e.g. Lean Six Sigma methodologies)
* Able to facilitate FMEA activities for design and process reviews
* Lead auditor for project auditing
* Knowledge of:
o Quality Management & Assessment
o Process Management and improvement
o Problem solving and business improvement tool sets
o Data and statistical analysis
o Quality Engineering
o Stakeholder, Customer and Relationship Management
o Quality Control
o Advances Quality tools
* Significant experience of process management and working in quality management, implementing quality and process management systems
* Significant experience in Problem solving and Continuous improvement
* Experience of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Business Excellence model or CMMI or similar, and in undertaking assessment
* Experience of reviewing and auditing process, programmes and projects
* Experience of a quality management role in technical industry, and of leading implementation of Quality organisational change
Qualifications
* Relevant degree or equivalent qualification and/or experience
* Membership of a recognized related professional body i.e. MCQI CQP
* Training in key ISO standards
* Training in the use of lean and six sigma techniques and/or other related problem solving and improvement tools
* Knowledge of EFQM, CMMI or equivalent assessment methods, tools and frameworks
Special Requirements
* Willing and able to obtain and maintain the Security clearance required for the role
