Specialty Doctor Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Full time permanent post
Enabling our patients to receive outstanding care through our dynamic, dedicated and multi-skilled medical teams is an objective we adhere to since the Trust has been established, in 1991. The state of the art, award winning facilities recently built allow us now more than ever to offer the support deserved by our community and the services provided by the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology are well received and valued. The Department, based primarily at Whiston Hospital, delivers 3,800 babies a year in well appointed labour wards, has 2 dedicated operating theatres, and has a Special Care Baby Unit of 15 cots (Level 2); in addition to a good provision of in-patient and out-patient facilities for obstetric and gynaecological services.
As well as delivering the full range of acute healthcare services, as a teaching trust, we have well established educational and research relationships with the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, making StHK one of the most sought after teaching venues for medical students. As Lead Employer, on behalf of the Mersey Deanery, we are responsible for over 2,000 trainee speciality doctors based in hospitals and GP practice placements throughout Merseyside and Cheshire.
We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and committed middle grade doctor to join our team. This position is not a training post, the primary objective being to make a substantial impact on the service provided by the Department. There is the opportunity to develop special interests and the successful applicant will be encouraged to become involved in research, audit and teaching.
Applicants should have significant experience in obstetrics and gynaecology and have at least MRCOG part 1 or equivalent.
You will have access to a modern Education and Training Centre with research facilities including a library, as well as a subsidised restaurant and on-site car park at both our hospitals, conveniently located between Liverpool and Manchester, close to the countryside and easily accessible by all transport links. Childcare vouchers and a car lease programme are also available.
If you are sharing our vision and wish to make a contribution to our patients’ welfare, do not hesitate to apply.
The post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure with both adults’ and children’s barred lists.
St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and expects all staff to undertake this commitment.
